I have the printer set on toner save mode and 300 dpi, which produces excellent print quality for the majority of my school work. If I can get at least half the approximately 2,600 prints out of the high capacity toner cartridge, I'll still be saving money over my ink jet printer. Even if I get a fraction of prints out of the 700-page rated starter toner cartridge, I'm ahead of the game when compared to my Ink jet printer.
I was burning through ink jet cartridges like crazy, since starting my Masters Degree program, so I bought this printer because I know it will pay for itself before I exhaust the first toner cartridge. I bought this printer just before Christmas for $99 and it went on sale for $69 before I received it and Best Buy credited me the difference, so I couldn't be happier about the price I paid for this excellent product. It's plug n play and it also has plenty of features for geeks like me to play with. Nothing crazy fancy that's confusing and you'd never use but not missing any essentials. So the bottom line is if you're looking for a solid printer for your black and white needs then this is a winner.

Though it's also a plus that clearing the jam was very easy to do. I have had a couple jams, but they were due to the paper being curved weird before hand. The buttons are simple and really only need to be pressed once to turn it on. The first label I printed was beautiful, I mean I never thought that something like a black and white shipping label could be anything but what it is but the black was so bright and clear it was just amazing. The quality of the printing is astonishing. Which is a relief after using inkjet printers that would just fail in the weirdest ways on some international labels.
I use this primarily for printing shipping labels and it does so flawlessly. But even at the normal price it's still a good deal. It was less then half of the normal price. I was lucky enough to get this on a black friday deal so to me the price was amazing.
